A 2-day workshop on engaging men as partners in the implementation of UNSCR1325 in the NW Region.

Doubling as the CEO of CAWAS and the Finance Officer for COWOPNET, I was privileged to attend a 2-day workshop on: Engaging men as partners in the implementation of UNSCR1325 in the NW Region.

The workshop focused on engaging men as partners in implementing UNSCR1325, promoting women's inclusion in decision-making, and eradicating Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
Discussion points

  1. Men's roles in promoting gender equality*: Recognizing men's potential as allies and advocates for women's empowerment.
  2. Women's participation in decision-making*: Emphasizing the importance of women's representation in peacebuilding and decision-making processes.
  3. Addressing GBV*: Strategies for preventing and responding to GBV, including community-based initiatives.

Here are some outcomes of the workshop;

  1. Increased understanding of UNSCR1325 and its implications.
  2. Strengthened partnerships between men and women in promoting gender equality.
  3. Commitment to supporting women's empowerment and GBV prevention initiatives.
  4. Commitment and support from the stakeholders present: administrative representatives, mayors, traditional rulers, church leaders, and community leaders.

This project is supported by the W P S Consortium in Central Africa, led by ALVF in Cameroon and CAGEAD/COWOPNET in the NW region, implemented in 6 divisions.
